Some of us have trained for marathons and worked out to achieve the perfect body weight and endurance levels. I just joined a women’s aerobics class that meets in the gym at my church, and though it is fun, it is not easy. No training or discipline comes easy, however it does come with great rewards.
There is no greater reward than learning how to live a godly life. In 1 Tim. 4:7 we read, “But reject irreverent and silly myths. Instead, train yourself for godliness."
How do we train ourselves for godliness? We must be consistent. I cannot workout one day a month and expect to see good results. I must work out 2-3 times a week and watch what I eat every day if I want to be rewarded. The same is with my Christian walk. I cannot read the Bible only on Sunday’s when the pastor asked us to open it up while teaching his sermon. I must have a desire to train for godliness. If not, I will remain.... godless.
