Most of us have friends or acquaintances that believe as we do. They like the same things or have the same hobbies. In the natural it is easier to get along with those who are alike. However, Jesus went one step farther.
In the book of Luke we read, “When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house” Luke 19:5 NAS.
Zacchaeus was a tax collector and probably one of the most despised people in the area. Yet, Jesus went beyond his natural inclinations and stepped into the supernatural realm when he invited himself to the tax collector’s home for dinner. Zacchaeus usually gets a bad rap for being short, and having a job that no one respects. However, he took the higher road and positioned himself in search of Jesus, something the Lord will in no way ignore. We need to remember the promise in Matthew that says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;” We all need to seek Jesus, and when He sees our heart, who knows…maybe He will invite Himself to dinner!
