I Tim 4:14-15 “Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.”
I am sitting here, writing as I usually do for the week, and the thought came to me “Today is Your Day!” Maybe you
have been holding on to your passions, goals and life ambitions and praying for “your day” to arrive, meaning that God will release you into your calling---fully.
There is many a frustrated follower who has yet to find their gifting’s, or have experienced numerous closed doors when attempting to use their gift. This can be one of two things: a misunderstanding of your real gift, or walking in the flesh, or both. When you have a gift and God has given you that passion to serve Him in a certain capacity, and doors remain closed, you can feel like a caged animal. We all go through these seasons. I want to add, that sometimes God is changing how you will minister to people. Pastor Don Haislett of Life Church in Odessa, TX said, “He may not want you to do things the way you have always done them. God may be calling you to change to get you out of your old mindset.” I want to add, the longer you rebel, the longer closed doors will unwelcome your gifting.
What do we need to do until the doors open? We need to praise God where we are at! We need to walk in thankulness and know that God ordains our steps. We need to know that Gods’ plan is larger than anything that we can imagine for ourselves. We need to realize that God has a future for us of divine appointments and has given us the anointing to be successful in whatever He calls us to do. Most of all, we need to be patient. I would be lying if I did not admit that I ran ahead of God at times in my life. That kind of response does nothing but breed frustration! My husband Gaetan says, ‘You may be in the desert now, but you will come across the Jordan!”
Know that God KNOWS your purpose and that He is setting the stage for such a time as this in your life. Many of us, who wait, realize that God is doing some fine tuning, some reaffirming, some prep work, as well as disciplining us. This will allow His ministry to not just function, but to bless all who come in contact with it.
So be encouraged brothers and sisters, today is your day! Whether you are in the preparation stage of your ministry, or actively moving fully in your calling, today God has given you the desires of your heart. He will use you in ways you never thought possible, and He will carefully place you in strategic areas, places, and with people who need your gifting. So with all your strength, let Him lead you. Do not pursue your own path, and He will release you fully in His time, for He does all things beautiful in His time!
