Today is Monday, and I am well on my way in accomplishing what I need to have done by tomorrow. I have one dreaded task that I have put off way too long, and now today I will tackle it full force. Have you ever been that way? Have you ever waited until the last minute to get something done, especially if it was a daunting task that you disliked or even despised?
There is one way to overcome this syndrome or spirit of procrastination. I have used it in the past, and today will be no different. I will include the Lord in the midst of it all. Scripture tells to do just that.
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
In the last few years of life due to some physical limitations and such, I have found when I include the Lord in such a way, and remember Matt 11:30 that says,“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” that my task no longer is mine , but I have given it unto the Lord. He provides me with good health, strength and the ability to accomplish the task with what even seems to be a sense of joy.
I include Him by putting on worship music and singing as I am cleaning or whatever the task may be. So today or this week, when something arises that you just don’t want to do, remember to include the Lord in the midst of it. Some may think of me as a psycho, but I even imagine Jesus sitting there in the room with me, and I imagine that I am doing the job for Him. Now, some have called me a perfectionist, when they see how I clean and such, but the real reason why I work so hard at making things perfect, is because I want everything to be perfect for Jesus.
This may not be a motivator for you, but it sure is for me. The secret here is to find out what motivates you and utilize it. Rest assured my friend, when we include Jesus into every aspect of our lives; we begin to realize the joyful life He intended for each of us. I challenge you to include Him too, and He promises you one thing: 1 Peter 2:6 Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in Him will not be disappointed."
