Like many of you, I spent the week focusing on the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that time became more intimate to me than ever before. Those who know me, understand how passionate I am about the message of Jesus Christ, but I cannot help to think since we have celebrated the resurrection, now what?
Like the church, over 2000 years ago, they decided to do something about what they had witnessed. After the Holy Spirit came upon them, they became bold and full of the passion for telling others the GOOD NEWS!
Have We Settled Into Our Subtle Ways?
As I inspect the scripture, I see nothing subtle in how the disciples of Jesus settled in keeping their faith to themselves or
inside a closed group of believers, where sharing faith is most likely non-threatened or questioned. They went out into the town square and starting preaching, sharing the truth of His glorious life, death, resurrection and His coming again! Out of their obedience came a great addition to the church.
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three
thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41)
Are You A Silent Witness?
How about you? Are you willing to go anywhere that God tells you so as to share the gospel message, or do you prefer to be subtle or even worse, a silent witness? I see no place in scripture where it says to act secretly, silently or subtlety share the gospel. Actually, I see just the opposite here, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19) Tell me, how is your silent witness working for you? I can guarantee that you have not led anyone to Jesus, and that you have compromised your faith in other areas, as well.
In the court system, a witness is one that testifies of what they know, or of what they have seen. Remaining silent would
be detrimental to the case. Our willingness to remain silent about Christ is as detrimental. God has not left us powerless and puny in our ability to testify for Him.
Jesus said to His disciples, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
If you have Jesus in you, you have that same power. So it is time to resurrect CHURCH! It is time to rise up! It is time to
testify (speak out), shining God’s WORD in this very present darkness, and oh, how very dark it has become. But we have hope! He will return soon, and I want Him to find me declaring His glory and His wonders to a lost generation!
