Today is Monday, and I am well on my way in accomplishing what I need to have done by tomorrow. I have one dreaded task that I have put off way too long, and now  today I will tackle it full force. Have you ever been that way? Have you ever waited until the last minute to get something done, especially if it was a daunting task that you disliked or even despised?

There is one way to overcome this syndrome or spirit of procrastination.  I have used it in the past, and today will be no different.  I will include the Lord in the midst of it all. Scripture tells to do just that.

Colossians 3:23-24
23
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

In the last few years of life due to some physical limitations and such, I have found when I include the Lord in such a way, and remember Matt 11:30 that says,“
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light, that my task no longer is mine , but I have given it unto the Lord. He provides me with good health, strength and the ability to accomplish the task with what even seems to be a sense of joy.

I include Him by putting on worship music and singing as I am cleaning or whatever the task may be. So today or this week, when something arises that you just don’t want to do, remember to include the Lord in the midst of it. Some may think of me as a psycho, but I even imagine Jesus sitting there in the room with me, and I imagine that I am doing the job for Him.  Now, some have called me a perfectionist, when they see how I clean and such, but the real reason why I work so hard at making things perfect, is because I want everything to be perfect for Jesus.

This may not be a motivator for you, but it sure is for me. The secret here is to find out what motivates you and utilize it. Rest assured my friend, when we include Jesus into every aspect of our lives; we begin to realize the joyful life He intended for each of us.  I challenge you to include Him too, and He promises you one thing:
1 Peter 2:6 Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in Him will not be disappointed."

Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

A  few nights ago, before the sunset, I went out to water all of my garden bushes and trees, flowers and new pepper plants that I had just planted.  While I was hand watering with a hose, I stood by the Crepe Myrtle Tree that stands tall and distinguished by the entry drive welcoming any visitor that comes our way.  The tree is in full bloom with beautiful white blossoms that cover the green so intensely, you can barely see the leaves.  As I watered the tree, I heard something buzzing in my ear.  Turning quickly, I could see that it was a hummingbird.  After spooking it a  bit, I decided to turn my head away and gazed his direction with only my eyes. He came within four inches of my face appearing to be more interested in the nectar from the blooms than me.  I stood there, practically holding my breath and as still as a statue as I marveled at his feeding ritual.

His feathers were a deep, shiny green, and he was so happy and content to be enjoying what God had provided for him.  After he flew off to the Esperanza bushes in full bloom, I headed to the sprinkler to turn it on for the back yard area and to sit on the deck.  As I sat there, I noticed the same hummer come over and play in the sprinkler.  He has done this many times, and he seems to know when the spray of the sprinkler is going to point his direction, so he dodges it successfully every time.  I had placed a new hummingbird feeder out for him, and I was afraid he never noticed it, as it was right by the deck and near the sprinkler.

I went inside the house after watering a bit disappointed because he did not seem to care that I had provided him something that I just knew he would be crazy about.  I can hear some of you ask, “So, Jane, why are you telling us this story?”

Well, so many times we seem to fall for the imitations of this world, instead of trusting God for provision.  We run to the bank and get a loan or charge something on our credit card because we want instant gratification.  We eat imitation sugars, imitation meats, and imitation flavored drinks simply to fill a place that only the real product was meant to fulfill. Imitation food and such will eventually lead to health issues that are far from imitation or our imaginations.

The hummingbird, being perfectly satisfied from dining on real flowers, could care less for the fake flower hummingbird feeder that I set up for him.  Once you taste and see that the Lord is good, or once that you read the Word of God  and discover His Word move powerfully in your life, you have little to no patience for people who construe the Word to fit there means, or teach false doctrines of devils as mentioned in 1 Tim 4:1. We have no appetite for a false truth, when we have access to the real TRUTH that the Lord has given us.

I am grateful for the hummingbird and what he represents to me.  He has abandoned the false things in this world and relies on God for all His needs. He looked content and not anywhere near emaciated. If we come to the place where we rely on God for all things, we too shall not suffer from hunger, nor be in want for anything, as this is an elementary promise of God.
